Due to its almost isolated position near the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea is the home of a unique fauna and is therefore one of the most fascinating diving areas in the World. Over 10% of its fish species are endemics, found exclusively between the Suez Canal in the north and the Gate of Lamentations (Bab-el-Mandeb) in the south.
This guide book details the life found on the Red Sea Reef, and should prove essential for reef aquarists and divers alike.
The book includes a number of sections covering the natural behaviour of particular species, with a great deal of information never covered before. For example, the section entitled “How to make babies nettle proof” shows for the first time an adult clownfish gently introducing its eggs to the stinging tentacles of their host anemone.
With over 1000 colour photographs, many previously unseen, all common aquarium species from the Red Sea are covered as well as the larger inhabitants that the aquarist can only dream about. |
